| They told me they would take a picture with me if I promised not to dance - great call by them! :) |
After about 3 hours of sleep (despite being utterly exhausted last night), I felt surprisingly refreshed this morning. Manisha (Groovy's sister) made me a nice breakfast that included a Malaysian style omelet, bacon and toast, along with a coffee, and then we were off to the airport to catch our flight to Bali. Wasn't I just on a plane?!
Despite being to the airport in plenty of time, Groovy and I lounged around at the cafe a little too long and almost missed our flight. We didn't realize we had to go through a second security checkpoint, and we looked at the monitor after getting through it to see "closed" next to our flight! We exchanged a quick wide eyed glance and turned and sprinted at least a few hundred yards as our gate was completely on the other end. Luckily, we were able to board ... albeit, sweaty and out of breath. The gate agent was visually amused.
After an easy three hour flight, we were greeted by a 90+ minute immigration line that caused us to miss our planned temple show. It's not a big deal, however, as we'll just catch it tomorrow amidst a big day... including Potato Head Beach Club, possibly a foot or body massage, the temple show, dinner at one of the best restaurants on the island, and the annual White Party (which is apparently a really big deal) - it's a tough life over here in Southeast Asia :)
We spent the remainder of our day today dodging scooters (these people are nuts), getting situated with our villa (which is so nice it's a joke), having some amazing tacos and margaritas for lunch, changing money (which made feel like I robbed a bank... see pics below), getting groceries, and having a nice dinner with some local dancing.
The area we are in for these first two days is called Seminyak, a very popular, and small, but bustling town. I'm writing this at 4am after going to bed around midnight again as my internal clock is still a mess. Hoping to get on track in the next couple of days.
